I suppose this all depends on where you think your rights come from.

If you subscribe to the notion that your government is the supreme purveyor of rights, then I can understand why you would consider abortion a right.

However, many people consider their rights to be bestowed by God and not something that is dependent upon legal or Constitutional amendments. The Constituion does not grant rights; it protects rights from being infringed upon. Were the Constitution the granter of the right to free speech, religion, assembly and so forth, the First Amendment would not start out, “Congress shall make no law.”
